It’s that time again.
Canberrans are all rugged up, running from building to building to avoid the cold. Still being relatively new to Canberra, I am one of those people due to my distinct lack of winter clothing. I’m not the only one and that is something that The Forage is aiming to change with their Winter Warm-Up event, but I’ll get into that later.
Taking the Nishi Gallery and surrounds by storm this coming Saturday, 5th of July, The Forage will be once again showcasing amazing food vendors from 3pm. The Forage boasts an even bigger line up for this event with local and regional cafes, bars, wineries and breweries all joining in on the fun.
A large variety of vendors will be making an appearance this weekend including CherVille, Hard Core Carnivore, The V-Spot Cafe, Stockman Sticks beef jerky (that’s what I’ve got my eye on!), Poachers Pantry, Little Oak Sanctuary, Lindsay & Edmunds, The Cheese Project, Street Bites, Mr. PAPA, Dinner Rush, Sweet Bones, Mocan & Green Grout, The Muesli Bar and who could forget the amazing ladies behind The Canberra Cake Club.
As you can see from that long list, there is more than enough food to go around. But if you’re looking for something to quench that thirst, there is also plenty to drink! The Bing Bang Pop-Up Bar, Mount Majura, Palour Wine Room, Stone & Wood and the Wily Trout Vineyard will be around to answer the call for beverages! Don’t think that The Forage is just about food and drink, oh no.
The team has put together a great line up of entertainment including, Amber Nichols, Alejandro Florez and The Night Cafe. Again if music isn’t your thing, don’t worry! Tweet Canberra has been working together with The Forage to figure out a way to bring this amazing event online!
For the first time, The Forage will have a live social media wall that will capture all of your Tweets and pics from Instagram and showcase them in the one spot inside the Nishi Gallery. So if you’re feeling the cold, come inside and say hi to me, I’ll be floating around, sharing your tweets and photos throughout the evening.
As I said in the beginning, The Forage and Hustle&Scout are doing their best to make sure that no one goes cold this winter in Canberra. In order to make this a reality, the guys have teamed up with the Vinnies 2014 Winter Appeal. On the night, Vinnies volunteers will be heading into the NewAction Precinct to accept donations of gloves, men’s socks and blankets. If you don’t have any spare socks, Vinnies will also be accepting gold coin donations.
This year, Vinnies is particularly short on blankets. The Forage organiser’s are encouraging all of you who will be attending to bring a blanket to keep warm and before you leave, drop it into one of the many collection bins that will be placed around the event. So do your part and help Vinnies provide much-needed assistance to the people in our community that need it the most.
Not only is The Forage going to be jammed packed of food and drink goodness, but they are doing their part for the community. Make sure that you head down to the event this Saturday the 5th of July and make sure that you join the conversation by using the hash tag #theforage.
